On Sunday 19th April 2026, Wetherby Town Council held its annual Civic Service of Thanksgiving at St James Church, Church Street, Wetherby.
Organised in partnership with Reverend Matthew Peat of St James Church, the service brought together members of the community, civic leaders, Wetherby Town Councillors, and members of local organisations to reflect on and commemorate those who serve the town.
The event also supported MIND, with attendees invited to write affirmations and well wishes on leaves to be hung on a special tree. This tree is now displayed in the Town Hall and remains open for public contributions.
It was a meaningful occasion that highlighted the strength, unity, and compassion of the Wetherby community.
As aptly expressed by the Mayor of Wetherby, Councillor Mulhall in his speech:
“Wetherby isn’t a great place by chance, but as a result of the people who live here.”
