Local families are invited to take part in free summer activities at Wetherby Market with Wetherby Foodbank this Thursday, 23/7/26.
Families across the Wetherby area are invited to enjoy a day of free activities at Wetherby Market this Thursday as part of the town’s 6 Weeks of Summer programme.
Wetherby Foodbank will be at our Weekly Thursday market from 10.00am to 3.00pm, offering a range of family-friendly activities, including a foodbank-themed scavenger hunt and a tombola. Every child taking part in the challenge will receive a free goodie bag, kindly donated by Tesco.
The event aims to raise awareness of the support available through the Foodbank while providing a fun, welcoming and inclusive activity for local families during the school holidays.
With many households facing increased financial pressures over the summer break, when children are at home and food and household costs can rise, the Foodbank hopes the event will help families access support, connect with local services and enjoy a free day out together.
Rebecca Lythe from the Foodbank said:
“The school holidays can be one of the most expensive times of the year for families. Alongside the additional cost of food, activities and childcare, many parents juggle work with caring responsibilities, while grandparents and other relatives often step in to help look after children. We want families to know that support is available, while also offering a fun, free activity that everyone can enjoy together. Whether you’re coming along for the scavenger hunt, trying your luck on the tombola, or simply want to find out more about what we do, we’d love to see you.”
The Foodbank is encouraging local families to stop by, take part in the activities and learn more about the services available within the community.
